With The Chelsea Flower Show in September this year, we were intrigued to see which flowers would be showcased. There were no striking irises or beautiful peonies, this year it was all about the dahlias and chrysanthemums. A mix of dark berry tones, corals and tangerine with pops of yellow. Their unique shapes and forms created a show of their own. We can see these colours and flower shapes coming through on the catwalk for SS22.
Bright ground colours are a key trend this spring as shown in the Carolina Herrera and MSGM collections. Alice and Olivia's stylised applique motifs are playful using the more simple flower shapes of dahlias and cosmos.
Irina Shayk wearing Moschino and Lili Reinhart wearing Christian Siriano at the Met Gala 2021; both stunning 3D flowers with bright accent colours and interesting placements.
Roses were another key flower showcased at Chelsea. Dolce and Gabbana's SS22 collection is sophisticated and simple, with bold floral motifs and dark ground colours.
Adam Lippes collection is full of beautiful photographic floral prints. Collaged motifs, yet sophisticated. The colour palette shows gorgeous plum tones mixed with yellows, pinks and oranges as seen at The Chelsea Flower Show.
